ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING FILL IN THE BLANKS GATE, AMIE, UPSC, ITI, MTNL, NHPC, NTPC, ONGC, IOC, CERA, BEL, BHEL, HAL, CPWD, PWD, JEE, RAILWAYS, ,STATE AND CENTRAL LEVEL SERVICE EXAMINATIONS

1. A voltage source of 100V has internal resistance of 2 ohms and supplies a load having the same resistance. The power absorbed by the load is 1250W.

2. A hollow conductor is at a potential V. The potential at any point inside the hollow conductor is zero.

3. The capacitance of an isolated sphere of radius 10 cm in air is equal to 11.11 pF.

4. The inductance of a coil is proportional to the square of the number of turns, all other parameters remaining the same.

5. Two identical coils of negligible resistance when connected in series across a 200V , 50 Hz source draws, a current of 10A. When the terminals of one of the coils are reversed, the current drawn is 8A. The coefficient of coupling between the two coils is 1/9.

6. The emf induced in a coil rotating in uniform magnetic field is maximum  when the flux linkage by the coil is zero.

7. The increase in resistance due to non-uniform distribution of current in a conductor is known as skin effect.

8. Fourier series expansion of a periodic function do not have sine terms.

9. Non-sinusoidal waveform when applied to an average responding voltmeter will cause the meter to read high or low depending upon the form factor of the waveform.

10. A measure of distortion represented by a particular harmonic is the ratio of amplitude of the harmonic to that of fundamental.

11. Laplace transformation of convolution , we have varying functions is equal to the product of Laplace transformation of each of two functions.

12. The emf induced in a coil rotating in a uniform magnetic field is maximum when the flux linkage by the coil is minimum.

13. The yoke of a large machine is invariably made of fabricated steel because of its high permeability.

14. A dc machine armature is laminated to reduce eddy current loss.

15. In dc machines , the field flux axis and armature mmf axis are respectively along  pole axis and magnetic neutral axis.

16. Commutation in a dc machine can be improved by increasing the brush resistance.

17. A 220V , 10 kW lap-wound dc generator has 10 poles and 500 conductors on its armature. If the pole face covers 80% of the pole pitch, the pole face conductors required to fully compensate for armature reaction will be 4 conductors per pole.
